John,
My heart goes out to you and your daughter at such a great lose in your life. I know by the way you spoke about your wife and by the pride in the pictures you shared with me, that the two of you had a great love. I admired the respect and tenderness that you always used in speaking of both your wife and daughter. Please know that I am praying for all of you.

Hearing the news about Eleanor brought great sadness to my heart for your family & all of us who were privileged to know her. I still feel shocked & a sense of denial that one who was so happy & full of life could be gone so suddenly!
I can only imagine what you & your family must be going through.....
Please know my thoughts & prayers are with you. I will always remember how beautiful she looked dancing the tango with you....especially that romantic dip in the beginning.
I will truly miss her presence in our dance family.
With heartfelt sympathy & sense of loss,
Phyllis Harris
My heartfelt condolences go out to the whole family. Although I only met her once, she impressed me with her kind and gentle spirit. God bless!
Posted by Liisa Gardner at March 19, 2009 11:42 AMI send my condolences to The Brooks Family at that time of grievance.
Mrs Brooks was a great role model and a lovely person. I must say her personality brightened everyone's day. She will be greatly missed.
Words cannot express the level of sadness I am feeling at this moment. I just learned of Mrs. Brook's passing and I am completely brokenhearted. I can only pray that one day, there is a cure for this horrible disease. It claimed my mother and it has taken another wonderful wife, mother and teacher entirely too soon. My prayers are with you Katie and your father at this time.

Posted by Elleka Bene' Seymour at March 18, 2009 11:31 PMJohn, I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your wife. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts.
May you find comfort in the memories that are yours to cherish always, and strength in the companionship of those who share your loss.... I have learned never to underestimate the healing power we all have. It is always there to be used for the highest good. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. (Matthew 5:4) May it be a source of inner strength to know that there's a loving God watching over you, and that, throughout this time of need, He'll stay close by your side. I have fought the fine fight, I have run the course to the finish, I have observed the faith.-2Timothy 4:7. As for me, I will lie down that I may sleep; I shall certainly awake, for Jehovah himself keeps supporting me. -Psalms 3:5
Dear John and Katie,
Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you. Although this is a most difficult time, I hope you both can find comfort in the memories of the wonderful life you both shared with Eleanor as your Wife and Katie's Mom.
I always admired Eleanor and looked up to her as I was growing up. I will always think of her as "my cousin Eleanor" a wonderful, kind, caring and loving beautiful girl. She will always be in my heart and in my prayers.
Eleanor was so fortunate to have such a wonderful and caring and loving husband and daughter. She loved you both very much. She was very proud of her husband and her daughter. Eleanor had wonderful memories of you both and she told me so. She was very happy to have you, John and Katie in her life.
I am sure she will look out for both of you. She will protect you both. You are both with her forever and no matter where you go and what you do she is in your heart forever too.
Remember that your memories will give you strength during the difficult times.
Love and prayers to you both. Please call me when you want to talk.
Love from your Family in Pennsylvania,
Roberta and Ron
Dear John and Katie, I was very sad to hear about Eleanor's passing. I remember all those days at Saint Vincent and how she would spend hours trying to get J.T and the other students to learn Spanish. She never gave up. I never got to see you both ballroom dance but I heard you were so beautiful together You both know that I am only up the street and anytime you want to talk I am here God bless lynn and Jimi mann

Posted by Kristin Hopson at March 17, 2009 08:06 AMMr. Brooks & family:
Eleanor and I worked together at Peabody, then at Petersburg High School. I remember when I was pregnant with my son, she gave me pep talks and encouragement-I will never forget her for that. She was instrumental in helping to plan my baby shower at school. She loved the children of Petersburg and gave them her very best.
Teachers like that are very hard to find. She will be missed by all who were lucky to count her as a friend, co-worker and teacher.
It saddened my heart to hear of Mrs. Brooks' passing. I am a former colleague and remember her as being a very calm, thoughtful and caring person. She loved being a teacher and showed so much interest and dedication for her students. I know that PHS will miss her tremendously. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
God bless

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Eleanor passing. When we think of her, we will picture her dancing with you. You two always seemed happy and looked like you were so in love. Our thoughts will be with you and your family.

Our family sends our thoughts and prayers to you and Katie during this very difficult time. I will always remember Eleanor as kind and soft spoken person with a gentle spirit. She was beautiful inside and out and carried herself with grace. It has been a priviledge to know her. We will keep you all close in our hearts and prayers.
I was fortunate to have been a co-worker of Mrs. Brooks for the past 15 years. She was a warm and compassionate person and I will miss the moments that we used to have long reflective conversations.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family
To John and Katie
I was very saddened to read about Eleanor's
passing. She was such a kind, gentle and
compassionate person who cared deeply for her family and her students. Eleanor was an outstanding teacher who always made her classes fun and challenging. I remember seeing her many
afternoons after school tutoring her students to
help them with their Spanish. I know she touched
the lives of so many young people- and they are
all the richer for it.
Please know that you two are in my thoughts and
prayers. If I can do anything to help you, please let me know.
John, you & your loved ones are held in our prayers through this sad time and always. I hope you will find comfort in remembering the great love you shared with Eleanor and in knowing that she will aways be with you in Spirit. Sincerely, Mary Kate
